I was thinking for this assignment we could for instance have students from Michigan write to students in California about the weather conditions comparing the activities that can be done in the summer in California to that of Michigan.
should we do one area or break the classroom up into three diff groups and each group have an e-pal in a different region of the US? That would be more complicated, but it would go with one of the concepts on the map and then we could tie it in with a project in the future and have the kids compare the weather from their e-pal to the weather here and present it... either way it doesn't matter to me!
i think that breaking the class up into three groups is a good idea. Even though it would be more difficult I think that students would get the most out of doing it this way since they would be able to compare the letters from their pen pals to others in the class that are writing to a different region.
